I getting ready to rent out my first invesment property to a couple. I have homeowners on the house and I'm also requiring the tennants to have renters insurance. Should I have my name on their renters insurance policy? If yes, then why. Any info would be helpful.

Make sure that your homeowners insurance is a "landlord policy" as it will be significantly cheaper.

Your name does not go on the renters insurance. Renters insurance will cover their personal belongings (computers, clothing, entertainment system, etc).

Make sure that your lease states that you are not liable for their personal losses, deductible, or uninsured items in the event of a natural disaster, flood, earthquake, act of terrorism, robbery, act of god, etc
