I am new to this field and I was interested in buying a Duplex. I was told that I should research on "Property Management." My question is in order for me to get into this business do I need a license of some sort? :-S
Check with your local county court. Each state has different laws and many cities have different regulations governing property management and landlording. Permits are required by landlords in many many jurisdictions whether you own the property or not.
Usually it is not a big deal, check it out!

No license needed to Buy/rent/manage/sell your own pptys. If you get compensated for any act regarding RE for others you need a RE Broker's license.
