Hi, I'm looking at a house that is over 100 years old. It is in the california bay area and has a brick foundation. Does anyone have an estimate for how much it will cost to upgrade the foundation? Thanks
Nothing is wrong with it other than the fact it is bricks. Very hard to get a loan for a brick foundation. I have owned a house on bricks before that mananged to survive the 2 major earthquakes, had no problems with it at all, but a lot of buyers now a days want a nice earthquake retrofitted foundation in the bay area.

Whats wrong with the existing foundation? Is there a basement?

I was thinking about $30,000 to upgrade.
FYI...
I was quoted $170 per linear foot for a new foundation.
