Brick Foundation, How Much To Remove?
Hi,
I'm looking at a house that is over 100 years old. It is in the california bay area and has a brick foundation.
Does anyone have an estimate for how much it will cost to upgrade the foundation?

Whats wrong with the existing foundation? Is there a basement?
Nothing is wrong with it other than the fact it is bricks. Very hard to get a loan for a brick foundation. I have owned a house on bricks before that mananged to survive the 2 major earthquakes, had no problems with it at all, but a lot of buyers now a days want a nice earthquake retrofitted foundation in the bay area.
I was thinking about $30,000 to upgrade.
FYI...
I was quoted $170 per linear foot for a new foundation.
