Donating Furniture
I had some tenants leave behind furniture and clothing that I would like to donate to a local charity. Does anybody know of a charity (or know of a place where I can find a charity) that will pickup furniture donations? The property is in the suburban Washington DC area.
The Salvation Army doesnt come to this zip code, another charity gave me a pickup date in 6 weeks. This stuff has to go right now.
Call around to some local churches or temples. A lot of them will give it to needy folks or sell it to benefit the church.
You might want to try Goodwill or Purple Heart as well.
Thanks for all the replies....I found that craigslist works fast (I sold items within hours). I did try Good Will, Purple Heart, and a number of other charities but their furniture pickups take weeks. Good Will pickups were booked til October!
