Anyone Do A Deal With IRS?
I want to do an offer and compromise with a guy who wants me to buy his house. He owes $30,000 to the IRS and part of the condition of me buying his house is that I help him pay that off.
Has anyone done this? And if so how hard is it?
Some people (especially in some courses) claim they have gotten the IRS to take less. Personally, I have never been successful, but only ran into it a few times with huge amounts like you are suggesting. You might try calling the department and tell them that you have a contract to purchase the property and say that there will not be enough funds available to pay them off. There will only be 10k or 5k left because there is no equity in the property. Then ask if they would accept that and let the property close.
