How Do Bird Dogs Get Matched With 'mentors'?
I made a few threads looking for people who need bird dogs in various parts of the country.
The threads got deleted so I guess I broke the rules. Sorry about that.
I have over 20 bird dogs looking for work and no way to help them or help the people here.
Just curious why this is not allowed and how the mods would suggest bird dogs find mentors in their areas.

Are you saying that their not in your area, or that you don't invest yourself, and can't use them?
I'm just confused.
If you have any that work the West Phoenix area, send them my way. I'll let them know what I'm looking for.

. Well pretty soon people started asking about becoming bird dogs and I offered to help them. Well now I have people emailing me and calling me at home EVERY day from all over the country.
I do NOT charge them a penny. Sooooooooo this being a forum about creative investing I started posting where some of these people are located so maybe I could help them and you guys.
These people are NEWBIES. I am sorry but they DO need training.
I would LOVE it if they were in my area but they are not.
SO I made this post in hopes the mod who deleated all the threads could give me some suggestions. I am NOT saying the mod did anything wrong.
I am merely trying to help some people and thought the MOD could at least PM, email me or post something to let me know SOMETHING>

Tell your birddogs they need to join their local REI www.club.They will meet local investors they can get to know who will teach them what they are looking for.

Posting "i am a birddog for xxx area" or "I have properties/birddogs/etc for xxx area" or "I need birddogs for xxx area" are ads. And like any other ad, per forum rules, these are deleted when found.
As for you offering to help these newbies for free, I'd suggest that you stop because frankly you're not helping them at all. Sounds like they are looking to you to guide their investing careers. Are you going to be there when they should be going out looking for properties? When they need to do their first actual deal? When the tax man comes to collect his fee?
If these people have no clue has to where to begin in REI, send them to the nearest library to read. Send them here to TCI. If they want to start by birddogging, John Locke has a pretty good ebook on the subject. Joining a REIA is not that hard. There are very few areas that don't have one within an hour or so drive. While it may not be in their specific area, it will put them in contact with real investors, some of who may be interested in their area. This is probably the best way to get that "training" that you're looking to get for them.

Well Roger, thank you for your reply.
The people I am helping to become bird dogs are looking to bird dog for Sub2 because I have told them a little about it.
So you see I AM telling them to work with John Locke's students. In fact just this AM I found a bird dog for RON(LV) who works with John Locke.
I just haven't been able to find enough mentors for them on John's forum so I started posting them here.
It is my way of returning a favor to John and his students.
So Roger when you say I'd suggest that you stop because frankly you're not helping them at all. I would say I have to respectively disagree with you.

Neutral,A birddog is a person who locates properties for investors for a fee. Often called a birddog fee.
Bird-dog - one of any of various breeds of dogs trained to hunt or retrieve birds
Essentially a Bird dog in real estate is trained to hunt down and find real estate deals for the investors that are willing to compensate them for those leads. This is sometimes expanded to include reaearch, and even setting appointments for the investor.
One reason these newbies birddogs haven't jioned a club could be because there is usually a fee to jion. If you are starting out, there's not alot of money in some cases.
Any other ideas?
(I'm sure I am not the only one wanting to ask this question)

I don't get this.
I undertand there is a rule against advertising, but saying "I am a Birddog in Miami" or "I am looking for a Birddog in Miami" does not strike me as advertising. It is networking.
BUT if it is advertising, where would someone list that they are a Birddog. Not that they have properites, just that the want to start in REI.
And what if I want to invite Birddogs to contact me, how do I do that?
I didn't write the rules, so I can't say what is correct, but I think there is BIG difference between Joe Schmoe saying "I want to learn REI. I will Birddog" and Sam Scammer saying "I can get you 100% financing on NOO. PM for more details."
Why not have the newbies join here? There is more than enough contacts here to start something....
I looked at older post and saw where bird dogs were asking for investors and where investors were seeking bird dogs in their areas. Perhaps your post was deleted because you are a third party, not an investor seeking a bird dog or a bird dog seeking an investor. Even though you have good intentions and offer your help free, perhaps it's viewed as a business.
I'm sure those folks appreciate your help immensely. Perhaps if they were to join this site themselves, then they could post their own request and that would be allowed. Keep up the good work .

The posts were deleted because they were considered ads, nothing more. Bruce, if you want to view it as networking, fine. The forums are for questions and answers, not networking. If you want to locate birddogs or investors for your area, perform a user search and contact them directly. BTW, networking is where you actually talk to people. An ad would be sticking up a sign. See the difference?
As for other posts with "I am birddog" type wording. Let's face it, we moderators can't catch everything.

My intention wasn't to offend. The point I was trying to make is that if these newbies can't/won't invest their own time to finding an investor to work for, they likely won't make it in the business anyway. If they can't/won't invest $10 or so to visit a REIA meeting, they probably won't make it in the business. If they can't/won't invest some of their time to look on the internet or visit their local library for some basic investing books, they won't succeed in this business. IMO, by donating your time to finding them "mentors," you're just delaying their giving up, possibly causing them to lose more money, as many "mentors" tend to fleece their "students" for money in exchange for the "experienced knowledge."
