Birddogs

dnash13 profile photo

How would I go about being a birddog in my area? I have been reading that it may be best for me to start that way instead of trying to start from scratch. Are there investors out there that really want to lend their time to teach me more about real estate or let me tag along? Thanks for any replies. rolleyes

    Tag along? Not that likely.

Work with a bird dog who listens and then hunts down good deals? Real investors will make all the time in the world for these.

    What have you been reading?

Where do you expect to be looking?

I am always open to a good bird dog. Figure out how to pitch yourself so I or someone else would be excited about working with you.

Great postcard, John $Cash$. Yes, you ought to give your mother-in-law a break!

I have just discovered Bird Dogging here on this forum today LOL

Actually looks like something I'd be good at. I spend 'too much' time watching real estate in our fast growing town and seem to see lots of FSBOs, probably wouldn't be to hard to find them. Rather'd be an investor than a real estate agent.

For active_re_investor, tell us what YOU want in a bird dog? What should I be reading?

    Thanks!

    Hi John,
I tried clicking on the links you provided, but they seem to freeze my computer every time I try to access them. Can you send a different link?

Also, in reply to the question of my reading, I think I was unclear on my statement. I meant that after reading many topics on this site, I have come to think that being a birddog is a good way for me to embark upon my rei lifestyle.
I have to say, I am a bit confused as to the comment on marketing myself as a birddog...Do you mean what types of deals can I find or a specific area of real estate?

    dnash13,

You might click on Support in the lower left hand corner of this site and ask Joel, he will tell you why you can't download the card.

As far as Bird-Dogging, market for properties, after you find them, then finding the investors will be no problem.
I have not met an investor who would not like more deals, well at least the real ones.

JOhn is too humble smile spend the $ on his book, Bird Dogging and start from there. I am thinking my 18 year old may be my first trainee. UNfortunately she is a boy magnet so I will have to figure out how she can do it safely under the watchful eyes of dad...smile

Thanks for the advice John. I was kind of thinking that, but was slightly unsure. I will definately check your birddogging book out! smile
