In Tax Title Since 96. Owner Passed Away

Birddog1 profile photo
Boy do I want this house. Last recorded deed, 1929. Tax title since 96. Owner passed away, tried Probate court, nothing under her name, tried Registry of deeds, nothing there either for bennificiaries. My last hope was the housing program, and they had nothing on the property either. How can I get in contact with someone to purchase it?

Probably need to track down heirs. The geneology folk in the county might be able to help you. Look at the death certificate. Here in CA, at least, there is an "informant" item which often has a relative's name and relationship.

This might be a candidate for "adverse possession." However, study carefully the law on it in MA before you attempt to do it.

Well, the probate court would have had the heirs, so thats out. I'm two hours away from the house, so All I can do is make phonecalls on the property, so I'm having a hard time

Find out who pays the tax bills (typically county treasurer office).
