Tax Deduction On A Lost House

In 2001, I put a downpayment on a Contract-For-Deed house for me & ex-fiancee. I moved out but ex-fiancee stayed living at the house until May 2004. I had to give up ownership by signing a Quit-Claim-Deed. Can I deduct my lost when filing my taxes? :-?
