Why Ask For A Discount?

TheShortSalePro profile photo

Asking for a discount implies getting something for nothing. When making a short sale proposal, though, you aren't asking as much as offering something of value... a loss mitigating alternative.

A mortgagee hates the word 'discount' so I wouldn't use it in your Proposal.

Stick with offering the mortgagee the property's 'as-is, fair market value' and
you won't be asking them for anything.... just offering them top dollar for a loss mitigating alternative.

Just make sure you've done your homework so that your Proposal is compelling, and supports your perception of the property's as-is, fair market value.
