Cracked Tile On Slab Foundation...Problem?

d_random profile photo

Hi-

I have a rental house that is a year old that is still under warranty. There were some cracked tiles in one of the bathrooms that the builder agreed to fix. The crack runs from one wall to the opposing wall.

The builder said that it was most likely a crack in the cement foundation from settling. Does that sounds right? Or could it be something more serious?

Thanks for all the helpful information.
I will ask the builder how big the crack was and keep an eye on it to see if the tile cracks again.

    Go to yahoo locals.
Look for painters in that city, state.
    Make 10 phone calls.
You will get maybe 3-7 back.
Have them come at different times and give you an estimate.
Then you will know who knows what they are talking about and what the prices are.
Do not pick the very lowest priced, but pick the one that seems most knowledgeable and ask him/her for the lowest price.
$1,700 does not seem bad at all as long as they protect the windows and any vegetation, use the right kind of paint and clean after themselves.
