Sunday Rent Collection?

BBCProperties profile photo

Someone told me awhile back that it was illegal to try to collect rent on Sunday. He was referring to phone calls or door knocking to get money owed on rent. I have not seen that anywhere. He is a longterm landlord in Nashville.

Does anyone have any information on that regarding Indiana in particular????

Thanks,
Betsy

    Betsy,

Why would there ever be a law regarding collecting rent on a Sunday ??? Only the church recognizes Sunday as a special day.

In Iowa, you can not buy or sell a car or mobile home on Sundays.

No rules from what I am aware of anywhere on rent collection. Did a google search and came up with nothing.

In NC, our lease states the 5th of the month. So if the 5th lands on a Sunday. It is the tenants tough potatoes, as they deposit directly to the bank. The bank will show them when they deposited or not.

Let the tenant worry about whether or not it's legal on a Sunday. If they protested collection on a Sunday then they would have to back it up with the law they are referring to. No research necessary on your part.
