Is there a good alternative to advertising in the local newspaper?

I get good results putting rentals in the MLS system. Teh realtors help me find tenants, show the property, etc. It is super!

If you work at a place that has and internal on-line posting web site, this works pretty well. I've received numerous responses from a general on-line post with no pics. Of course there is always the sign outside. Statistics say this approach produces good results.

    Hi bcmay,

I have had good success, placing a large for rent sign in front of the property before the unit is available. The callers call our 24 hour rental answering system and listen to all of the details about the unit. What is it like, when is it available, how much rent, deposit, etc. After hearing the details, the interested parties leave their name and phone number and we go from there. Best of Success!

    Hey,

The number of ways to advertise a rental house is as long as your arm:

    1) Notice on Bulletin Board at grocery store, etc.

    2) Signs on every street corner pointing toward apartment

    3) Big sign in window/front of unit

    4) Flyers on cars in local area

    5) Flyers to neighborhood, with $100 referral fee

    6) Letter to existing tenants, with $250 referral fee

    7) Flyers at OTHER person's apartment (this works best for L/P)

I think the paper is a waste of money.

Number of ways to getting the calls...as mentioned...its finding the good tenants thats the trick. best of luck.

by the way...can anyone tell me if youre renting out a house...can you ask for $20-25 with each application? to cover the cost of credit checks etc.

or does this only apply to apartment buildings?
