Best Day To Advertise - Newspaper?

DeeLewis profile photo

Is Sunday the best day to advertise in the local newspapers or are other days same/better? I'm asking because I have 3 ways I can do this. I can advertise Mon - Wed, Thur - Sat, or Sunday. Here, Sunday has most of the advertisements, but I wonder if I advertise on more than one day, will that make a difference?

Thanks guys,

Tough question. Really comes down to money. If you can definitely afford the Thurs-Sun, then do it...more exposure the better.

But worst case, just do it on Sunday and make it shine!

your going to get nothing but conflicting answers on this one. if you can afford it, do all 7.

Some weeks all my calls come in during the week and none on the weekend. other times on the weekend and none during the weekdays. it varies sooooooooo much....in my experience. I think the weather has something to do with it too. Rainy days are always good days.

just pick any 3 and see what you get. advertising is test test test test test. so test is out and see what you get.

    I agree with nebulousd.

Work with your budget and experiment to see what works best.

I now advertise on Sunday only. After wasting alot of money on other days, Sunday has always gotten me the best results.

Weather plays a strong factor. Sellers stay home when the weather is wet.

my top perform newspaper ads are placed in the "throw away" papers... thrifty nickle...green shheet...penny saver.. they never fail me... buyers or sellers...

I placed my first two ads in the regular local newspaper.
Originally it was for 7 days, starting on Thursday, except Saturday, then the paper does not come out.
They made a mistake (they put my for sale ads in the rentals) and will rerun it Tuesday thru Sunday again.

I did get 1 call on Monday though from the "rentals" placement.

If it doesn't sell thru the newspaper I will try the Thrifty Nickel, Pennysaver, etc.

I am just starting to test.

do a penny saver type of ad, which runs usually weekly...

I'd say Sunday but as stated above I would also look into the Penny Savers and free publications out there. The rates are cheaper. I have received numerous responses from one ad in local weekly pub.

Just out of curiosity, what does a 4 line PennySaver ad cost (how many zones)?

I know at least two people who regularly run for sale ads in the rental section. Often they include the sentence "Own for less than rent."

    They are quite successful

For some papers there is a day when most of the RE advertising is done. Often this is a weekend day. You might let your paper be your guide. It seems like a two-edge sword, though. The same day everyone knows to look at the ads is the day where there is the most competition of products. I would tend to go with the busy ad day.
