Registering Business In Nevada

cowlitztractor profile photo

Hello ,
I am trying to find out what the pro's and con's are to registering my S Corp in Nevada. I'm currently in Washington. And am directly competing with very near by Oregon businesses handling the same and similar items. Now, I realize this forum is dedicated to real estate, but figure it's always worth an ask , incase somebody knows.
Anyhow, I'm trying to figure out if I can improve sales by registering in Nevada, by being able to avoid B&O taxes, and the 7.8% sales tax I'm having to charge, especially with tax free competition an hour away.
Any advice or thoughts would be very appreciated. Paula J confused

I am in Iowa and considered forming my entities in the state of Nevada also. My main reason for doing so was to avoid taxes. Under Iowa law (and many others) if you have property (real or otherwise) or employees working in the state, you must pay Iowa Income tax, etc.

There was a lot of talk from what I understand a few decades ago about the advantages but most of the "loopholes" have now been eliminated. After a short explanation from my accountant (and my trust in him) I left the subject alone.

I am not an attorney or accountant so I would say talk to both of them and you'll have your answers a lot more clear.
