How To Find A Cpa

jhenkel profile photo

I know from reading these forums how important it is to find a good cpa with rei experience, but how would I go about doing that?

Also, what kind of costs am I going to incur for finding a cpa? Do they charge on a per-activity basis, do they charge a fixed fee to be 'my cpa'? If I just have questions to ask them will I get charged for that time?

Thanks for the help, everyone!

    Hi jhenkel,

From my experience, there are many different ways of finding a good REI cpa.
    1) You can post an ad in the newspaper.
    2) Visit your local REI club.
    3) Talk to other RE investors
    4) Talk to your realtors.

Make sure they do REI as well and it is even better if they do creative REI. I find most CPA charge have the following fees:
    1) Setting up the corporation
    2) Bookkeeping
    3) Personal and Corporate tax
    4) They usually charge by the hour $50 to $150.

I'd recommend going to your REI club first since they are probably most knowledgeable CPA for REI. They are also usually more expensive but get a free consultation and see who you like. I 'd interview at least 3 CPA before deciding on which one to go with.

    Good Luck!
