Buyers Agent Question?

Hello All,

Quick question - I have started looking for a condo for myself here in NYC and was pre qual by fleet bank - I have a buyers agent but the office does not seems to be finding the properties I want. I've asked for the representation document - as in agreement for the agent to represent me - to be given a copy of this. and have not recieved on as yet. This agent just keeps saying if I approach other agents they will have to contact here inorder to do a co-broke deal.. At this point I'm ready to just leave this agent and go out to others that have more properties. Would anything hold me to this agent at all

In NC the contract clearly states that if you purchase a home during the contract period, then the agent is due their commission. This means that if you use someone else, you may be responsible to pay and they can force you to do that as you have a contract. That being said speak to the agent and ask to be let out of it. One way to explain it tothem is that you dont want to waste their time by having them show you property that you are not going to buy. Also, the contract has a end date. Find out when that is and wait until then to buy.

Talk to the BROKER of the firm and explain that you are unhappy and wish to end the contract.

I agree with myfrogger. The agent should have given you a copy of the relationship agreement at the time you signed it. Rattle the chains with the agent's broker and have the broker give you a letter terminating the agreement.
