Tax Lien Process

gwright profile photo

I am getting ready to go to a tax auction, and have my eye on a great house at a reasonable price.

1.) If I am successful bidder of this tax lien certificate will I recieve the property if the owner does not pay? If the owner is behind on his mortgage will I get priority over the lender in forclosing on the property?

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but this is a great piece of property. I ordered some books on this subject, but this is a great opportunity that I do not want to pass up. Thanks everyone!

    Hi GWright,

You didn't specify in which state you are purchasing. This is your most important factor as every state has their own laws about tax liens!

Where are you, where is this house?

What is your goal for this house or the lien? Do you want to live in it, rent it, flip it?

The best piece of advice I can give is to contact you local courthouse. I have contacted many in my home town and out of state, and have foun them to be very helpful .Each state and county has their own rules
    Have a great day
