How Long In Florida For Tax Sale

sleeve396 profile photo

A mortgage company paid the back taxes on a house on my block the back taxces were two years old, I am trying to buy the house from the owners, who show me the mortgage bill that just shows the back taxes added on as negative escrow pending, so far he has paid down about half of the amount and there seems to be no actions taken against the property, is it safe to assume that thetre is still time left to pay them down? the tax lien was paid by the mortgage company last november, can they foreclose??

Since the taxes were paid, there will not be a tax sale.

You are making this too complicated. If you want to buy the house, what is stopping you? It takes only a couple of weeks to buy a house and the foreclosure process in FL takes about 3 to 4 months after the filing of the Les Pendens. So you have plenty of time to buy the house.

There has to be at least 2 years of taxes in default (in FLorida, other states are different) before they can even think about forcing a sale. Also, once the property is submitted for an auction, it may takes weeks before it actually goes to auction. In these few weeks, they will recieve letter after letter from the county warning them. It will be posted in the paper, and sometimes the sherrif posts a sign outside of their house. SO, to answer your question, I would say you have plenty of time. And in fact if the mortgage company paid the tax liens...there is no more liens, because they paid them. You should be fine. I doubt a mortgage company would forclose on a loan due to some taxes they had to pay....mortgage companies dont want to forclose anymore then the owners do...it makes them look bad. lol
Hope I could be of help
