Delinquent property taxes in WA?

(I reposted in this forum as it seems more appropriate)

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with this question. The King County tax assessor told me today that there is no list of delinquent property tax payers available to the public. He suggested that I pay $200 for the Tax Roll which includes all 625,000 homes in King County and to go through each individually to see if they are current.
He did state that come June there will be a list of property tax delinquent homes up for auction in December.
Do you know of a better way to find out who is delinquent but not on the auction block?!
This really has me stumped since it seems other areas have access to this information.
Thanks.

    2. We do not maintain a mailing list to notify people of each year’s tax foreclosure. The great majority of people who ask for information never attend the auction or do any research once they find out what is required and what is involved. Further, people move without telling us and it is a waste of county resources when the list is returned. The Summons and Notice, which includes a list of the properties, will be published in the Seattle Times classified (legal) section sometime in late October after all our title reports are completed.
