Back Taxes Duval County Flordia

lancelot1814 profile photo

My friend was telling me how he bought somebodies back taxes and after waiting for 120 days for payment from the owner the land becomes ****Must Reach Freshman Investor status before posting URL's***hen they have x number of days to prove they paid you, if they didnt then the property and anything on it will become yours unless they are still paying on it. If so you can contact the bank that hold the morgage and tell them you wish to make a bid, at which point they will set up a auction and you may purchase it that way. I believe this to be true but is it legal. I am extremely new to this obviously and I wish to take part in it.

This sounds completely crazy to me.

I don't think things work anything like this anywhere.

I'd suggest you study the state statutes of FL related to collection of delinquent property taxes and then spend some more time studying the laws related to foreclosure of mortgages or trust deeds.

There has been a lot of discussion of the FL tax sales right here on this forum. You might want to read some of this discussion.

Well I may have left some of the details out, but I know and trust this guy and he says he has done his research and that he did in fact do this 4 times so far in the last 3 years. I did read the messages on Florida. Were can I find the statues for Florida.

    lancelot1814,

Call the Tax Department officials at Duval county. They will give you the most accurate information.

    Report back with the info.

What your friend indicates is news to me. The way that you frame your information completely contravines established state statute and procedures. Are you sure that your friend is talking about tax lien certificates? Might he be talking about Lands Available For Sale? This is a very specific area and may have some rules that are pecular to Duval county.

    Good luck,
