Continuation - Rent From Family Member
I would also like to say that the owner is threating me that he is going to have his realtor put the house on the market if I don't decide by tomorrow. I sounds kind of funny to me that he is such a hurry now.
I also was thinking that I could rent the place out to someone for about $900 a month. It's a 3bdrm/1.5bth 
I would walk away......

If he sells to someone else then I going have to move and that usally means I have to look for somewhere else to live and possibly pay a higher rent. 850.00
Moving is a lot better than bankruptcy!
Sounds Hokey. If he owes more than he's selling to you for, who's paying the difference? If he's so willing to dump it, there's something wrong. Something you're not being told.
Obviously, we don't know all of the details, but I feel pretty confident in telling you that I would walk away. Family business is bad business.
Thank him for letting you live there. Thank him for his offer. You really appreciate his confidence in you, but you're just not ready to buy right now.
