Additional Insured Clause

I have not asked three insurance agents about the additional insured clause and they all three say that the additional insured will be included on any proceeds check. I asked my state farm agent, an independant insurance broker, and an agent that was president of the local REI club and owns an insurance agency that caters to investors.

The REI ex-pres said that you could have them added as misc insured, but that they might not show up on the dec page. He also said that if you have a limited POA, then you could sign for them on the back of the check.

I said that "have them added as misc insured", which is incorrect. What he said was "additional interest can be added on a policy for correspondence only" but he does not know if they will show up on the dec page.

You quoted a commercial liability policy and a Rentors policy. I agree that additional insured means different things on different policies. I am looking for a non-owner occupied residential property - hazard insurance.

    Ask your agent.
