Where To Get Ballpark Repair Estimates

olivetree profile photo

Is there a source (book, software, website) that will give a ballpark estimate for different repair jobs, e.g., repair drywall, replace carpeting and vinyl, painting, etc.? I know a general idea will come with experience, but if I need to make an offer quick, I want to be able to come up with a number without depending on a contractor to be available.

Home Depot has a free disk that they have at the "Pro Desk". This disk has repair estimates and material costs.

Don't know if this helps or not.

Go to Homedepot .com then go to 'KNOW HOW' drop down and click on calculators.[ Edited by MrMike on Date 12/05/2003 ]

If you're interested, I have an excel spreadsheet that I got from a local REI group.
