Mold
This is for my own personal home, but who better to ask than rehabbers.
I have mold in the ceiling in my bedroom. I am going to pull down all of the sheet rock. Is there something I can spray to kill the mold. I guess I am asking what should I do once I get the sheet rock off.

Find the cause of the mold and fix the cause (assume it was a water leak). If the mold is severe, you want to try to do this in a way as to not let the spores blow areound the house. Turn down the airconditioning, use platic sheets, etc. remove the sheet rock and any insulation in the area. now comes the really confusing part. because you can do research on the internet and get many conflicting answers. But i would spray any wood with mold on them with bleach, let it dry, and then spray with binz. Other people say that bleach and paint have no effect. Some people say to spray it with a bioside. others say to scrap the mold off the wood, some say scraping is the worse thing that you can do.

Thanks, It is just a room with no heat and it gets damp. I am going to have to figure out a way to heat it once I get it fixed. Thanks for your answer..
Vikki, just about everyone in FL has mold after the 3 devastating hurricanes that visited us. My advice is to set your A/C to 60-65 degrees and call an environnental engineer or a professional mold cmpany. Remember even dead spores can cause health problems. Good Luck.
