CLEAN UP AFTER CARPET REMOVAL

jwalker profile photo

I've moved into a house from the 30's which we removed all the carpeting (all throughout the house, this carpet looks original, yuk!). We now have the foam which is stuck to the wood floors. The floors seem to be in good condition though.

Any suggestions on how to remove the grime from the floors without damaging the floors?

    Hello!

I have a question. Are there hard wood floors under that carpet? If so, get a scrub brush and scrub off what you can. Then rent a floor sander and sand down the floors. Then after cleaning everything, stain, wait a few days and then seal. Wait a week.

We've just done the above, and I'll tell ya, man, what a difference it makes!

If there's not hardwood, I'd just pull up whatever covering there is and recarpet.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,
