Bathrooms..... How Complex Is The Job?

reinatalie profile photo

We are getting ready to replace bathtubs, sinks and toilets in the house we are remodeling. We are thinking to hire a handyman to replace these. He has done other work for us and is capable. My question is what should we be concerned with as far as hiring a handyman to do this job rather then a plumber? How complex is it to replace a sink, a bathtub?

A skilled handyman should be able to handle replacing tubs & sinks.

I wish my handyman could replace sinks and tubs...

Anyway - If you are comfortable that he has the ability to do the job, and do the job right, I say go for it!

    Good Luck!

The only real damage that mgiht be done by an experienced handyman could be the same as a plumber. He could twist too hard and start a leak somewhere else, might cut out supporting framework that would have to be patched or replaced.
I have had more problems fixing plumber problems than handyman problems over the years. Just make sure he is competent.

yes a handyman and a plumber can make the same mistake but a plumber can give you a warranty for their work. just something to think about!

Exactly. Plus the handyman is doing the work illegally as is the investor/owner. Are there scenarios that could come into play and bite you in the ass over that? Insurance claims come to mind.
