July 4 Party In Chicago

Ok, at the risk of this being construed as an advertisement:

I'm having a 4 of July party at my apartment in Chicago. Roof top deck, great views, incredible fireworks display.

Every neighborhood in Chicago has some guy who spends a couple of grand on fireworks. Puts on a big show for the neighbors in the backyard or in the street in front of his house. But my rooftop is the tallest building for a couple of miles and has uniterrupted views for 360degrees. So we can see all of those fireworks. The show starts around dusk. Somewhere around midnight I throw out the last of the guests. The fireworks are usually still going pretty good at that point. So its about 4 hours of continuous fireworks display. Does my heart good to see so many people breaking the law all at the same time without it being a riot.

Anyway, I've been remiss this year in getting out the invites to the usual susupects. So if you'd like to come the the fireworks party PM or e-mail me to RSVP and I'll send back directions.

Honest, John, I promise we won't do any real estate deals during the fireworks display so its not an ad.

  • Sounds like a good time Mark. How many stories high are you over there?

  • commercialking2nd July, 2004

Just 4 stories, Greg. But nothing else is more than 3 for a mile or two, and Chicago, as you know is a little typographicly challenged. I.e. really flat. So when a fireworks gets 200 feet in the air you can see it for 5 or 10 miles.

Come on over from Michigan if you'd like and join us.

  • Mark- 4 is enough when you've got the penthouse. Thanks for the invite.

    Mark,

Great idea. Unfortunately, I can't make it that weekend. I think I'm going to be in town the weekend of the 17th though with my wife and might check in on you.

Well, Robertt 1,500 miles is a long way to go for fireworks, even really good fireworks.

See you in a couple of weeks.

Just reminding folks about this post. I have had two or three responses from TCI folks.

    Mark,

Talking real estate deals is not what I was thinking about, I was wondering how much you are charging for the fireworks display.

A while back I was consulting in Chicago, however I lived in Hinsdale as I remember our fireworks were bigger and better than where you are, also free.

Have a great 4th, say hello to the TCI members for me.

    John,

I charge nothing for the fireworks display, of course. The city also has a very impressive display, but they do theirs on the 3rd went down last night and watched from the deck of the boat. The Orchestra does a live performance in the park with is timed to co-incide with the fireworks display (or vice versa) and the performance is broadcast on one of the local radio stations.

So we went down, sat on the deck of the boat watched the fireworks, listened to the 1812 ovature amongst other things and all in all had a great time.
