Anyone Buying Property Outside Of The US?

Lennyseleven profile photo

Does anyone here own investment property outside of the US? Seems like China wouldnt be a bad place to buy a multi unit about now. The weak American dollar wouldnt be much help though.

Just curious, how did you come across an apartment to buy in Moscow?

  • alexlev7th September, 2005

I work for a huge international investment bank and spend a lot of time in Moscow.

i'm not even gonna say anything but bush voters deserve what they are about to get

  • alexlev3rd December, 2004

Drop it already. For better or worse, Bush was elected President, and now we all have to live with it. Hopefully he'll spend the next four years mending fences and building bridges to bring together a nation so horrendously divided by the results of the last four years. I didn't vote for him, but now that he's got the job, I hope to God he's successful. Because like it or not, his mistakes will be felt by all of us.

ps - I usually think correcting spelling errors is petty, but "Americans" is spelled with a capital A, and "re-election" is lower case. Looks like you made a bit of a Freudian slip there.

  • LadyGrey5th December, 2004

I agree 100%. And will say no more on the matter.

Homeland security is a front; more like "oil security". I've done my eight in the military in two different branches. I'm getting out next month to do REI full time. I have friends and soldiers whom I lead that had to ship out New Year's Eve.

The kids really don't know what their getting into. The recruiters pump us up on education and travel. War is the least bit spoke about when we were recruited in. Please don't say "they know what they're getting into". I've watched people for 8 years come in the military for school, but never go, but do end up going to Iraq. A vicious cycle.

"over and he's in (and by NO SMALL MARGIN )"

GW "won" by the smallest margin ever for an incumbant For all intent and purposes, the election is over. The results, however, aren't final yet, folks.

Though there is virtually zero coverage by the media,
there is well documented election fraud in several 'swing' states. In fact, Ohio Republican Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell has ignored subpoenas to explain the irregularities including the widespread tampering with the electronic tabulations (80% of the vote), election was conducted, and how Ohio's votes were counted and re-counted.

I doubt the "official" results will change.... but maybe someday we'll learn what really happened.

I don't like or dislike George Bush. He's got a job and he'd better do it. Let's see if he cleans up our air that we breath which has gotten very brown and toxic. Let's see if he cleans up our water which is filled with toxins. Let's see if he cleans up our food supply which really isn't food anymore. We are being robbed of our natural resources and the majority of people just don't seem to notice or care. Let's see how long this goes on before the earth shows us who really owns whom. I think we saw a taste of that recently. So better enjoy yourself while you can. We won't be here forever.

  • gmoney6912th January, 2005

I thought this had ended 2 months ago? Are we still talking about this?

  • LadyGrey14th January, 2005

Let it go people. History will show us whether Bush is good or bad.

I'm sick of discussing this BS, all I can do right now is the best I can to make sure I am in a good financial position to help my husband's family when the economy goes BUST.

Wow - that a pretty big statement.

Maybe a litte less weed and a little more studing in HS would open your eyes to many people worldwide that have been quite the killers since Hilter.

  • ryand4th March, 2005

i have never smoked weed in my life or drank. i dont intend to. Why dont you open your eyes wider and look at this counrty from a different view. You hav been brought up your whole life to hear "this is the best country, we, we, w,e, we" These are the same tihngs that every counrty tells their citizens. Everybody thinks they are the best and the strongest. We are the counrty telling every other that they cant have nukes when when in fact we are the only country to ever use one. Great place we live

  • InActive_Account6th March, 2005

Not too sure of your background - but I have been around the world a few times or two and have seen lots. I lived over seas and believe me my eyes are wide open and I have seen more than most.

I agree 100% with you that we strong arm other countries, and we use political pressure to get what we want. Sure their might be personnel issue involved in our dealing - but America sure does not have a monopoly on that.

Everything we do is to maintain our way of life. A way of life that may be vain, but we sure like it. I like the fact I can get a snow cone at 0300 in the morning, because we have 24hr stores. I like the fact that that my neighbor, while only making 20K yr can buys a Lexus if he wants too.

This is a tough world -you are either attacking or being attacked. Not only referring to military - but economically too.

I know why they some hate us – 6% of the world population and we have 27% of the money. Plain and simple – it’s all about the money. However, we bust our butts to have what we have in most cases. Look at us; we are both pushing for REI, why? To make money, have a better future, live a higher standard of living – couldn’t do that in too many other countries.

I have served and continue to serve this country, I love the fact everyone has different opinions. While I think you have every right to say and do as you wish – seems funny that you are profiting from the same country that provides you the opportunity, all while cursing her name. We do have a great country in deed.

  • alboh8th March, 2005

I for one have never posted on here or any other board, but to read this stuff about how much you people think Bush is a great president just makes me want to leave the country faster than ever. He is not nor will he ever be a christian and to think you all buy his pathetic lies over and over. He kills people all over the world for the sake of money and you seem to think that the almightly dollar is what makes this country better? Well for the sake of this countries future and my childrens futures, americans better open their eyes before they see all their hard earned money dwindle into the hands of Bush and His Corporate cronies. He is an evil man and anyone who thinks he is a christian better read the bible where it says "beware of false prophets" for you will surely follow this man and the rest of his evil administration all the way to the gates of hell.

  • ryand8th March, 2005

finally somebody that understands. The god talk is a little much for me but all i can say is that 90% of this country is brain dead

  • InActive_Account8th March, 2005

Love those bible thumpers! You get so angry about things and just make it too easy to poke fun of. It’s almost a sport.

    A few thoughts:

God had nothing to do with Bush being elected. If you want to blame someone, blame the youth vote, the ex-woodstockers, or welfare cases. All were Kerry’s great saviors; they all liked to make a lot of noise, protest but when it came to casting the vote – didn’t want to be bothered. Maybe the line was too long, maybe they were hung over and couldn’t get up in time or they just didn’t care! Hard to tell, but the election is now history.

I really would like to know of one person that “threaten” to leave the country if the “evil” Bush was elected, ever did. I can respect your opinion, but damn, don’t be a hypocrite. I would have more respect for you if you actually left and followed through. At lease you are standing up for a belief.

Never claimed Bush was a great president, but he is doing a job. The government has several check and balances – lots of red tape - so don’t just blame him for the war. It takes a lot to make things happen – many elected officials from both sides voted for this.

“90% of the country is brain dead”. I always said that if you walk into a room of 4 people and think 3 are idiots – maybe you are the idiot. Something to ponder.

  • ryand8th March, 2005

why would i be part of the %? i dont vote bush i hope bush dies and then the vice pres dies also.

  • ryand8th March, 2005

I wish death upon him for the simple reason that he took thousands of peoples lives. how do you know i am not related to somebody who was killed in Iraq? I dont think it is immature to wish that upon somebody who has killed many.

I agree 100% that it is unreal that somebody can speak such terrible english and run this counrty. I am in no way saying that i can speek well but i am also not running for president. You represent the USA and cant even speak the language. that right there makes me want to curl up into a ball and die. Is there any hope? It is amazing that people can listen to somebody who speaks that terrible and take them seriously. not to mension VOTE for them!
End of convo. Thank you one more time america for your stupidity

  • InActive_Account8th March, 2005

You all just proved my point. This is a great sport getting you folks – you make it easy:

"Lets get this on the table real quick there is nobody to blame but the election electronics and straight up vote manipulation."

Now it’s electronics’ and the great conspiracy theory. How can you in one breathe say he is a complete moron and then come back and say he manipulated an entire country through some incredible conspiracy theory, if that was the case he must be the smartest man alive.

You all are very good at throwing stones, but no so good at coming up with solutions.

I won’t even comment on ryand’s comments. Except to say - Big talk for someone who still lives with mommy. Hope the feds don’t read you post, could land you 5-10.

Alboh – never consider myself brain washed nor do I feel the country is. I find your comments amusing like a small child wink

Im not scared..whatever happened to freedom of speech? they take that away like everything else. i should just move to china

P.S. hoober how many properties did you own when you were 18? how many deals did you do before the age of 21? Or should i say how many beer pong games did you play and how many different drugs did you take?

Thank God for George Bush. Mistakes or not he is the best choice. Not the perfect choice because no one is perfect but he is the best leader.

He has made mistakes but he is still my guy.

    Majority rules!

  • ryand9th March, 2005

This is great you have done this much for yourself. I ask your before the age of 21..I think it is ridiculous you are putting someone down as young as i trying to get my life started when most people dont even start in real estate until they they realize they made the wrong decision earlier in their life.

I can tell you i could care less about the college part because i am a believer that college is 100% irrelevant for success and for life itself. Basically it is a huge waste of money and time. anything you can learn there you can learn at the library for free. People need this silly piece of paper that tell them they have completed some courses..That is my personal opinion

  • ryand9th March, 2005

whatever works for you. I dont like the fact that people are judged by a piece of paper when it doesnt even mean anything. My favorite movie just happens to be Goodwill Hunting.

  • ryand9th March, 2005

good i am sick of hearing of bush, it just gets me all heated up.

i went to college for one semester and that is when i made my mind up

which Peanut character would you vote for.?

    Charlie Brown

    The WAAH WAAH teaher
    Sir

    I kind of favor Snoopy.............

The one with the most Politician-ish leaning is OBVIOUSLY the teacher. You can never understand what they say, and are always just making noises! lol

  • NC_Yank22nd March, 2005

    Excellent points Jam,

What you forgot though is their favorite excuse.........."we are doing it for the children...."

I still say snoopy is the best choice.
He is obviously military minded ,flying his Camel Dog house - fighting against the Red Baron.

He also takes care of those the the "small people".....like Woodstock.

He does have some Clinton quality..............which could be his down fall............he likes to kiss the girls too much.......ones that are not that attractive .......Lucy.

I will have to give greater thought to this.
