Should I Have To Pay For Alarm Malfuction

scottgray profile photo

Hello landlords...

the alarm that came with the house malfuntioned and started going off at 5am on my tenant. she could not stand it and yanked out the siren and contol panel (it has a small speaker in it also)

there is no monitoring connected to the alarm, she was just using it as a sound deterant.

should I have to pay for the repairs on that? my lease does not stipulate anything about the alarm system.

thanks for your ideas...I am all ears.

I am guessing that your tenant does not want the alarm system repaired. Remove it and patch the hole in the wall.

Apologize to your tenant for your faulty alarm system causing her emotional distress and hope she does not demand to be released from her lease over this event.
