Hurricane In Texas

smithj2 profile photo

I have a few tenants in Texas that were affected by the recent hurricane and had to be out of their rental homes for a few days during the evacuation. Things are now getting back to normal, but I was wondering how to handle this with regards to October rent payment.

Do I need to give some relief with respect to October rent? How have you handled situations like this in the past with respect to rent due? Am I required to offer some sort of discount?

Thanks.

    Ypochris,

Thanks for the input. I would like to offer a nice gesture, at the same time I do not want to open the door to be taken adnantage of. I am considering waiving late fees for October to give them maybe a week more time to pay rent or sometjing like that.

I am not sure what is a reasonable "nice gesture" keeping in mind that I do have to pay the bills coming in on the other end.

    Thanks.
