Are there any websites or services out there that gives free credit reports (to check on a prospective renter)without signing up for that 1 credit report/ year deal offered through the popular experian, transunion, etc...?

    not that I have seen.

You can piggyback w/ a firm and get the advantage of volume.

If you "trust" the credit report they give you (another thread suggested editing a PDF to beef up bank balance), just tell the prospective tenents to go to one of those sites or the annual disclosure site.

Every US Citizen can pull their credit from all three companies once a year.

To keep your credit clean, you should check from one company every four months - stagger them.

The stagger is something I have never heard.

    GREAT suggestion.

I always pull the prospective tenants credit because I know it will be current and I trust my source. Someone walking off the street could have doctored it or given me his brothers.
