I live in the suburbs of Detroit, MI. The cities have cracked down hard on bandit signs in the last few of months. Too many investors have put them all over the place and citizens as well as businesses have complained. However, up near the Flint area, investors don't seem to have the problem with the cities that we do. They put them on poles with no problems.

I have used bandit signs and received the very best results from them over the many other forms of marketing I have used. I have signs in yards of houses I have and of friends who live on high traffic streets and will let me put them in their yards. I still receive more calls on just those few signs than any classified ads I use.

I have put them on wire stakes and put them among other signs - like Realtor signs or garage sale signs and never had a complaint yet. The cities don't like us putting them on telephone poles.

I would say test areas. Put them up and see if anyone complains. They might ask you to take them down if you put them somewhere on public property so be sure you keep a record of where you put each one.
    Hope this helps.

One rule-of-thumb I would add on bandit signs is that wherever I see "Realtor" signs up mine go up too. If its good for the goose, then its also good for the gander. So, I test and retest best areas but bandit if it were illegal to be a real estate investor(thank goodness its not!) and you were pulled over....you SHOULD have bandit signs in your trunk!

i think the best way to find out which locations weren't lega; would be to test the system, put'em out if tey're not supposed to be there, enforcement will let you know, the only problem with this is they might not tall you which one they saw, they might just say "take your all of your signs or you'll be fined", you could try to see which ones they saw but i would put them up around or close to any others in the area, maybe down the street at a different intersection......intersections have worked the best for me so far

i got my signs from www.banditsigns.com

The BEST way is to contact your city/county for the local sign ordinances. I really can't imagine that they are ever "legal" as they are most often not.

Put them out on weekends when the sign police aren't working. At least you get about 3 good days of exposure.
