Surplus Proceeds From Foreclosure Auction

Can anybody tell me the process to redeem the proceeds over the balance due to the foreclosing lender once the property is sold at auction? I understand that any amount that the property sells for over the balance due + legal fees etc. is due to the homeowner. Help Thanks, Dave

    Thanks Nancy--this is a new refi (as of last year)...could I get rid of the account if 20% of the mortgage is paid off?

    See if your loan gets bought out and try with the new lender.
