Right Of Redemption

I recently purchased a house at a foreclosure auction and have been wondering when does the right of redemption start? Does it start the day of the sale or after the court acknowledges the sale. This has been a question were I have found few answers or people who knew. Any clues would be very helpful. <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_eek.gif"> [ Edited by tomass5141 on Date 10/11/2003 ]

In MN, the right of redemption starts after the sherriff's sale. The time period of the right of redemption can be different from state to state. Some states do not have a right of redemption. In MN, the time period is 6 months. It then can take up to a month or two to evict.

If you're insistent on being your own lawyer, then you need to do your legal research/briefing and find the redemption law in YOUR state.

It differs widely in the 50 states, from a few months to NO red. rights in a number of states.

The legal research on this is not very complicated...use any search engine, look up Statutes and Kansas, etc., and you'll be looking at that state's statutes.

Then use the index to look up RE Foreclosures, and read the law for yourself.

What state is the property in? Perhpas one of us is familiar with that states law, or can help you find it.
