I was contacted by a company offering this service, is it legal in Ga?
Rather than you going into foreclosure or filing bankruptcy, you quit claim half or all of the property to their corporation, which files bankruptcy, then withdraws before plan is filed, giving you a window to "get your shit together" without having your credit adversely affected. They supposedly can do this more than once, giving you around 18 months to work out in.
This is an absolutely toxic service even though it may not be illegal - yet!
This kind of crap is what promted the state of California to outlaw foreclosure consulting w/o a Real Estate license which is yet another joke on the planet ot the earth.
You can do the very same thing without them. I am not an attorney but in my very legitimate loss mitigation service, I, very once in a blue moon, suggest that my cliesnts consult a BK attorney and I admonish you to do the same - without your friendly rip-off service.
Run, run, run from these scam artists as they will really sink your ship. Call your state atty. general and report these clowns on Tuesday. THEY are in fact practicing law the way you are describing it. Are they a law firm or even atty. supervised?
Pleae do not fall for this scam - get a real attorney.
