Exculpatory Clauses - Where'd They Go?

I don't hear mention of these as I did in the past, to limit liability to the property itself, and not chase a mortgage defaulter into the bedroom, and sell the sheets to pay off a mortgage. Why have these statements "gone away" in RE contracts? I actually think the idea may still be vaild -things happen in RE, even to the fairly experienced, due-diligent gentleperson. We want our families left out of costly RE errors if possible. Alan
