Can't Find My Former Landlord!

LaurenceL profile photo

In a nutshell, here's the situation:

I lived for 6 months in a studio, and gave my landlord my three month notice when he told me he was raising the rent from $900 to $1100.
I've been chasing him for the past 2 years to get my $1200 security deposit back. I've done everything that was legally possible.

I got the capias to serve him back in November of last year, but by the time I had sent the paper to the sheriff to serve him, the guy had gotten rid of the house and moved.
Basically, all I need is an address where I can have him served. The people who bought the house won't tell me anything.

I went to the registry of deeds in Boston, MA (where all of this is taking place by the way). They don't have records of the sale, and I found out that the guy wasn't even the owner of the house. The person who's name is/was on the deed might even be dead but he's still using her name so his wouldn't show (that last part is speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if that were true)

My only ressource right now would be to hire a PI, but I certainly do not have the money for that!

If anybody can tell me what are my ressources next, I would appreciate it so much! This is, off course, about the money, but I sssoooo want to get him!

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!

Try 1-800-US-SEARCH, hire a private investigator, or locate companies that do skip searches.

What do you mean by skip search?

At this point is it worth the time and hassle for the money? I know $1200.00 is not poket change, but what is it going to cost you to find the guy and once you do, to get your money back?

I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP. I DO SOME SKIPPING FOR COLLECTIONS. WHO IS THIS WEASEL?

    Fauche,
it is worth all of that. The judge tripled that amount because I waited more than 60 days after I moved out to file my complaint.
It's actually not the judge who decides, it is the law. That means I COULD get $3600. considering the financial situation I'm in that could help a lot!
He also ripped me off of $300 because he asked for a pet deposit, whici I found out was illegal...
And it's not just the money... This guy got me so pissed! He's an A** , and I do want to find him, I really do [ Edited by LaurenceL on Date 08/10/2003 ]
