Structural Damage/basement

Help me to understand this. I saw an attractive duplex, at market value in a decent neighborhood. The listing says As Is. Structural damage sounds serious to me. Why would they attempt to sell this at regular market prove with this serious defect? rolleyes

From what I've seen most relators do that, possibly to screw some newbie investors. But price is negotable, and in this case very negotalbe.

Everone has a dfferent idea of what structual is.

I had a single family house that a previous owner added a bath to.

When the waste pipe for the toilet was installed they cut out a 3' section of floor joist "that was in the way" and didn't put a header in.

That type of structual damage was solved with a 2x8 and some nails.

The same house had a section of sill that was eaten by termites.

$300 worth of wood + 2 days labor.

Someone who knows what they are looking at will probably get a large discount off of the asking price for their sweat.
