I was curious about them too and actually talked to real people who used the service and the majority were dissapointed to say the least. The main problem was that it was very outdated and as you know this is a very timely business!
As you already are finding out, there is no substitute for doing the work on your own. There are numerous posts about pay subscription locators, but the consensus seems to be that some of the info is not updated enough. You can look through the archives and older posts on the subject and find that some people like other programs better than others. I have one I paid 1 time for and I never have to pay again and when I need to use it, it has some updated info and some outdated stuff too..so, just goes to show ya, nothing is perfect, even if you do spend your hard earned cash on it.

I'm not disputing the fact that the courthouse is probably the best option. I've been there a couple of times, it's just that often pursuing investment opportunities is my after 5 job (when I'm not running my kids somewhere...tthen it's my after 8 or 9 job). Have you guys ever tried the RealtyTrac Daily Notification Email, which will send the latest properties information by your saved search criteria.
It is important to build relationships with bankers and other investers. Sometimes word of mouth is the best way.
