Possible Scam Scenarios Out There?
Does anyone know some possible scam scenarios that you have heard homeowners in foreclosure falling victims to? I hear a thing hear and there like charging upfront fees for filing a BK for them, or stringing them along with promises until the trustee sale and so on... I'm in California but I'd welcome input from pros in all over the states as well. Thanks.
Absolutely. I investigate allegations of predatory lending, and untoward realty transactions for a few agencies, and have worked with my state's Deputy Attorney General, and the FBI.
It's amazing what's out there. There are so many people that routinely conduct business in gray areas... but don't know that sooner or later, precedents will be established, and legislation will catch up with many of these practitioners...
That's one reason why I try to help the inexperienced speculative investors &/or those unfamilar with the short sale process structure their deals properly...conventionally, and beyond reproach. Call me old fashioned......
