My Neighbors Home Is Being Forclosed On...MONDAY HELP!!!

ejm99 profile photo

I've never done this...
but this is surest way to be sure we get decent neighbors this time around. I won't even bore you w/ all the details but suffice to say you wouldn't want this family (and their many odd relatives that live w/ them ~ 10 people in a 3bd rom!)...
that come and stay for months on end.
My goal here is to do something ...buy it something I don't know what...
HELP!
What do I do first?
I'm in TX and they have had the home since 97 if that helps...
now what?
No I do not want to rent to them once I hold the deed.
I don't have a clue as to how to go about this...
I checked the tax assessor's office and they are up to date..so I assume it's their mortage company pushing the forclosure..as well as our local housing association since they have NUMEROUS complaints..
what do I do now?
tia!

I'm not even sure what you want to do myself. Your post complains alot about your neighbors but doesn't say what you would like to do about it. Are you asking what you need to do to purchase the house? If so, have you done your homework in terms of researching what other encumbrances, if any, are on the property? Whats the property worth? If you are as new to all this as you say then perhaps it might be better to spend some time on this board and learn before you jump into something that you may later regret.

*Everyone is probably right but do you know if it is a judicial or non judicial foreclosure? Have they gotten their Notice of Default? If so, is it going to sale at the courthouse on Monday? Monday is a holiday so its probably Tuesday. Have you had a title search done to see what liens and judgments are on the property? Do you have the cash to buy it now?

I think maybe you should just wait and see what happens. If its going to auction then either an investor or the bank will take it back, list it with a Realtor and then maybe youu can buy it then. At any rate, whoever buys it will need to give the current resident a 30 day notice to vacate and evict them which could take months to get them out of there. Are you famaliar with the eviction process? :-o
