Mortgage Release Info.
anyone know how long it takes for a release of mortgage to be documented i have a short sale to close on soon and it is a cash transaction through a title co. the person at the bank says we can close within days i was just wondering would it not take a few or more days for them to prepare and deliver to title www.co.or how does this work when i carry in a cashiers check i would really like to walk with ownership of prop. once again thanks to any and all replies 
Pardon me if my answer does not address your question...But once you close, you own the property. At least that's my understanding, but then, I never did a short sale.
Do you mean the recorded satisfaction of mortgage?
I closed one with Fairbanks and the Recorded Satisfaction took about 4 months.. even though they were in violation of law and subject to fine.
Just make sure that your closing settlement statement clearly indicates the mortgage was paid off, and the cost to prepare and record the satisfaction was paid to the (former) mortgagee.[ Edited by TheShortSalePro on Date 12/21/2003 ]
