Bank lists of borrowers in default

First, I'm sure this topic has been covered, so I'm sorry to repeat. I'm trying to figure out how to locate and/or make contacts with banks to get lists of their customers in default on their mortgages. I've tried search engine searches, and only found a couple that aren't really relevant to my area.

What is the best way to find this information? Contact local mortgage headquarters? Are title companies a source at all? (I've seen that mentioned but I don't really see how they would have that information...) Any online services or sites you can recommend? I know in some states services like ForeclosureWorld will pick up the notices of default filed at the recorder's office, but I don't think MN does that.

Any suggestions?

get familiar with your local county records, my county's trustee has a website where they list the owners in default....your county has a way of letting eveyone know, either it's thru a website or a local paper or at the local courthouse or something of that nature....i wouldn't use the "foreclosureworld"-like services since you can get the same info they get as fast (or even faster) than they can....

do a search oin google.com for " yourcounty" and see what comes up....

I can get information on properties where the foreclosure process has started from the county and legal paper, but not the pre-foreclosure info. Apparently lenders don't file a notice of default at the courthouse here in MN, or at least that's what I have concluded... any other ideas?

are you talking about trying to find out about late fees and how far behind they are and other loan specific information?

Just trying to find out who's behind so I can approach them about getting out... I suppose I can get the details from them directly, but of course it would be great if I could get that info, too... mostly just to find out who's late in making their payments. Can collection agencies hired by lenders give out this info? I figure someone has to be calling harrassing them to get payments - do the banks do that themselves, or hire it out? And if they hire it out, can you ge the info from them? Or straight from the banks? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

    Thanks!!

if they fall behind in i believe just a few payments, the forecloseure process begins, that what you're seeing, that info should be good enough to get going on and get some practice. what kind of redemption period is there in your area? i'm not too sure if the banks outsource to collection agencies, i'm pretty sure the collection agencies aren't allowed to give out that kind of information, hmmmmm, you might be able to find out a way to see who's late on paying other bills or people who have have some kind of utility turned off, i'd say 75% of the people i cam into contact with last week all had the phones disconnected.... ouch... first time i've seen that many...

maybe someone else can help us out...

    This might help a bit..
Go to the courthouse or online(your county property appraisal website) If you have the name which, you probably will, enter it and find out the year and what they payed for the house. Then use a mortgage calculator to find out what kind of pay off they may have left. It wont give you an exact, but you might get a rough Idea. You can add a few months mortgage payment together to also give you a rough idea of the back payments. I cant promise it will be right, but like I said it might give you a very rough Idea.
