down here in GA you do not see a lot of heat pumps except for in rural areas where gas may not be available. Our extreme heat in the summer is not the best place to utilize a heat pump but i agree, there are some good efficient models on the market these days.
Every developer creates their own unique template for their work. I have seen dozens, some good, some bad. You may want to talk to your civil engineer to see if he has any samples that would address some of the typical issues for your area.
