Taking A Poll On Hispanic / Spanish Speaking Market Interest

Hello everyone. In my research for becoming a more proficient birddog I have uncovered what I believe to be a treasure. I have been calling REI in my area in order to get info on what type of properties they are interested in. In a conversation one of the investors told me he does not deal with certain areas because they usually don't speak much english and he has a hard time understanding them and having prospective sellers and buyers understanding him. That means that not only him, but quite a few other investors probably do the same thing!

Being bilingual I know the advantage that the comfort level that other hispanics achieve by being able to communicate so well with me is very big. I have even worked for a few investors in the are as a translator or interpreter (even the deal was already in place) and gotten some extra cash like that. It has occured to me that maybe someone out there in the investing world may need some simple documents translated into spanish in case they have sellers or buyers that would be more comfortable if they could read the documents they are signing in their native tongue.

Would anyone here find that useful?

I of course have been paying a lot of attention in the deals that I have been present in while I was interpreting. I have to understand the transaction before I can explain it to someone else so as a biproduct (sp?) I have gotten a lot of help and knowledge from the investors I have been working with.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

    Hi Veronica,
    I live in Phoenix and would love to have some spanish or bilingual docs. I know enough to be dangerous or order food and thats about all.
    You would think working in spanish broadcasting I would have learned more(!) but everyone at the stations want to speak english with me so they can learn it better. I get to practice my spanish at the local restuarants.
    It might even be helpful to have english on one side and spanish on the other???

    In Southern Calif there are numerous real estate sales companies that specialize in the hispanic market. Many of these real estate agents dont speak English very well.

    Find a niche and go with it! I think it's a great idea.

    I speak spanish and english myself. It opens up a whole new market for tenants.

    Great idea. We have opened 2 bilingual offices (insurance) in the last 3 years. Fasting growing, undertapped market of people that really need assistance.

    I have gotten a lot of positive feedback from my idea. In No VA this market is still severely undertapped. looks like others have discovered it in other areas.
    To market to them I am going to go to the local hispanic grocery markets and to the local hispanic churches. Any other ideas where I could look for sellers and potential buyers?? Will be doing bandit signs in spanish, but have to get the budget to do so first. In the mean time I am doing my homemade flyers. LOL

    Look for local Puertorican, Venezuelan, Mexican etc groups. Might find them through a local night club that specializes in Spanish music etc.

    Perhaps find Spanish Attys and ask them the best way to contact members of various Spanish speaking groups.

    In my experience most Puertoricans speak English alread. It is more the people from Central and South America who would need your service.

    I make my flyers en Espanol y en Ingles, that way I cater to both markets. I leave them in grocery stores and other business that cater to Spanish speakers.

    Here in Phx there are several weekly magazines to advertise in. Might check the free paper stands in front of the local carnicerias.
    La Voz
    Prensa Hispana
    and TV y Mas are the three out here. Might be there too.

    Thanks for all the advise. I have actually started putting a flyer together to put in local grocery stores and have spoken with several pastors in the area which have agreed to let me put my info in a community bulletin board. So I am making progress.. I have gotten a few calls, but none I was able to work with personally so I have deferred them to other investors and hoping some of them work out. Commision or not I am still establishing relationships with local REI and feel like I am moving right along.

    I have started translating documents I have found in different locations on the net. I will be taking them to an attorney to revise (to make sure they are legally sound documents) and be on my way.

    I have also been very interested in developing the hispanic consumer market and other new american citizens markets. I recenty came across a new citizen ( I am taking 6 months) that could not any credit because he had no credit history boy is that a vicious circle. The investor I was translating for managed to purchase the house the individual was interested in and they are doing a rent to own. So the new consumer will be able to get into a home, build equity and his credit all the same time. The investor gets little cut here and there (sold the home for 26, 000 more plus a little more rent he will be making in the 1 to 2 years time after which they have signes a contract of option to buy. The new consumer is def. getting the home at the arranged price. ) Everyone is happy! I will do what he did for someone else someday... just still learning how to....

    I am one day closer to doing it with every day that goes by....
