Should I Become A Real Estate Salesperson?

Sorry if this topic has been out before but when you run a search on the archives it returns about a billion postings to read!

I'm in FL and am considering taking a two week course to become a real estate salesperson. Here are my reasons:
1. It only costs 275.00 and after 12 months for another 375.00 I can become a Real Estate broker
2. If I can buy houses while working with listing agents I think I can get the half commision I'd be paying the listing agent (or my different buying agent).
3. I think I can get access to the MLS (multiple advantages).
4. I'll learn more about real estate transactions.
5. I can do comps easier

Can some of you experianced folks, or Real Estate people in FL tell me if I'm on the right track with my above assumptions....also, can I act as an "independent" agent and collect commision without being tied to a Real Estate Firm?

Thanks in advance

There are valid reasons to become a real estate salesperson, and valid reasons not to.

There are differing opinions out there, and you can read some of them in the several hundred responses to posts on this subject that have already been put out there for the world to read right here in TCI.

When it's all broken down, and pondered in whatever system you use personally to justify your decisions. This is still a personal decision that you'll have to make for yourself.

My advice is to read the "billion-or-so" postings that you mentioned when you posted your question on this forum. The reasons and logic in those prior strings are still current and pertinent, and very little would or could be added in this string that hasn't already been debated in the others that would help you make your decision.
    Good Luck,
