Investment Coaching???

HKS profile photo

I have been giving some thought to signing up for coaching thru Rich Dad. I feel that if they can deliver what they say they can it could really help me achieve the goals/results that I want. My issue is it’s not cheap, and I almost feel that the $$$ could be put to better use in other ways. I don’t have a problem investing the money as long as its worth it. They basically meet with you on the phone everyday, give you assignments and research to do, provide advice etc... help you analyze deals and they check up on you to see how your doing. They also have a resource line that you can call to ask any questions.

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with coaching in the investment world?? What did you think of it? Was it worth the $$$$? How did it help you achieve what you wanted???

What do you think of the Rich Dad organization? I know they are out to make a profit and all, which is completely understandable. I’m just wondering if they are only out to make a profit or if they are really interested in helping others learn and succeed???

I just know there are a whole lot of people that claim to knowledgeable blah, blah, they take peoples $$$ and then deliver mediocre material at best.

Any advice on this subject will be greatly appreciated as I'm am seriously considering doing this.

Would I be better off just ordering some home study type courses, buy some books, join a few REI clubs to hopefully find some real investors that I can learn from, and then using the $$ toward the next deal???

Thanks

I would check with the REI clubs in the area. Just as good as a coach, and probally better because they know your target market better than a coach outside of the area. Just my thought.

If these guys are out of Utah, they are likely the same ones who coach for Carleton Sheets. They have approached me and have not conviced me it is worth while.

You might check under the Carleton Sheets forum and you will find a number of posts on coaching. Most are negative.

I am really not impressed with rich dad other then as a motivational speaker. He will get you interested in real estate but I don't think he has anything to teach you about it.

I was reading one of his newsletters and someone asked a question about if he thought there was any money to be made in foreclosures.

His answer was no if there was any money to be made the person would list it with a realtor and sell it for themselves.

That answer pretty much turned me off to him.

    Thanks for the replies.

After thinking about it, I don't think I will be doing this. They have just not convinced me that its worth money they charge.
I think I could use the money that I would have spent on coaching on some more books, maybe a few study courses, and the next deal.
Thats pretty funny that Rich Dad said there is money in forclosures. When someone is several moths behind in payments, they have lost their job, whatever the situation may be and the bank is breathing down their neck they probably aren't going to have the luxury of listing it with a realtor.

I will be speaking with the coaching place again tommarow, and will let you guys know what happens.

Okay, I guess this as good a place as any to break in. This is my first post and I know essentially nothing. Any suggestions as to where I should start to get my "coaching"? I am a great believer in others' experience vs. paid coaching, so that's why I am here.

    Carstar -
Welcome to this site! I would begin by reading the posts and articles here on TCI. There are also some great products on here that you can purchase pretty reasonable that can help you. You can get books on REI at your local library and also I would recommend that you join your local REI club..you can network with other REI in your area...and maybe start off as a birddog for them. Basically, what I'm trying to convey to you is don't spend thousands of dollars on courses/bootcamps that are overpriced and under-delivered. You can learn a ton about REI without spending a fortune. Hope this helps! Happy Investing!
