Buying Home Near Crowded Area

nkotha profile photo
I am a first time home buyer just started to look around for single family homes.

We visited few homes today and found a home near a busy area. Its a single family home with 4Br/2.5 Ba with 2 car garages, just 100 ft away from the highway. Walmart/shoprite/walgreens are just in a walkable distance. Property tax is little high as it has huge lot. It does not have any amenities.

I want to live there for minimum 5 years. I feel its a good buy and I can live there but how about resale? Will people be interested in these type of homes? Is it worth buying?

Please advise.

Sincerly,

Mani

Oh, I forgot one possibly crucial element. A couple of the houses have these stickers in the windows stating that the property has been "winterized". Now, who would order this company to winterize these properties? Does, or could, this mean that the property is in foreclosure? Or.......[ Edited by newtree on Date 04/30/2008 ]

Here in Lansing those stickers are almost a sure sign that the home is an REO. Have you tried the winterization company? When I see a clean out crew or board up going on, I talk to them and have never had any trouble finding out who ordered the job.

No, definitely do not put signs in the yards of houses the bank owns.
