Asbestos Around Pipes

crunch profile photo

A house that I am buying has asbestos around pipes in the basement, but the pipes are wrapped quite well. The basement has a laundry room that the tenants use to do their laundry. Is it a liability to give them access to the basement, since they are surrounded by the asbestos covered pipes in the basement? Will the insurance company make me remove the asbestos?

Common problems. Insurance companies vary on what they will and won't do. The asbestos is not a problem as long as it's not flaking. If it's not flaking, you might want to coat it with a good latex paint to prevent it from flaking. Long term....remove it.

    Good luck and make $$$

if it friable to flaking that remove or encapsulate. if it's in cood shape you can leave it alone or encapsulate it. There are special sprays for encapsulating.
